Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are used to treat multiple skin conditions including acne, acne scarring, uneven skin color (melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, sun spots), sun damage, skin laxity, fine lines, and wrinkles. Thus, dermatologists often say that “Peeling is healing.”

Chemical peels cause your skin to look more refreshed, clear, and youthful, as new skin bathed in fresh collagen and elastin develops, replacing older, damaged skin.

What are the types of chemical peels?

CP are classified as superficial, medium, and deep, based upon their strength as well as how deep they penetrate into the skin. At Sarin Skin Solutions we perfom a wide variety of CP including glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, Jessner’s solution, trichloroacetic acid, yellow peel, mandelic acid, azelaic acid as well as combinations of each.

CP work by loosening damaged skin cells, ultimately causing them to gently slough off. CP differs based upon how deeply they penetrate into the skin as well as by the type of chemical solution that is used. Factors affecting how deep a chemical peel penetrates include the type of acid used, the percentage concentration of the acid, and the number of coats applied. Deeper chemical peels result in more dramatic improvement, yet can also be associated with greater risks. This underscores the importance of seeing a board-certified dermatologist for your chemical peel.

Following a chemical peel, your skin will look smoother, tighter, more youthful and refreshed.
